REAL YORKSHIRE ALE Brewing Beer since 1993 Old Bear Brewery has been supplying its range of “no codswallop” Yorkshire ales across Northern England and beyond, since 1993. The brewery has been under the auspices of Head Brewer and proprietor Ian Cowling for the last eleven years and during this time we have seen the brewery grow from something of a "hobby" to the commercial operation that it is today. We now regularly brew five times a week and are producing in excess of 10,000 pints a week with a view to double this next year in time to celebrate our 20th birthday!! The 7 regular brews are complemented by monthly specials such as Yorkshire Ale - the first ale to be accredited by the Yorkshire Society. We are shortly to see the return of "The Duke"! The Duke of Bronte was originally brewed six years ago and has been sought out by connoisseurs far and wide- it weighs in at a massive 12.5%ABV!! It hasn't made an appearance for the last four years but is to be brought out of retirement over the next few months (See news section for further info) Our ales are available in more than 100 pubs and clubs across the North, and nationally in the case of certain lines. We also supply direct to the beer loving public in the form of any of our ales are available for purchase in casks from 4.5 gallons up to 18 gallons!! We'll even lend you a hand pump!!
